Autographs through the Mail

In all my life, my Cubs autograph collection comes to a grand total of 1. I got Carlos Silva to throw me a ball and then later Randy Wells autographed it at Wrigley Field last summer. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life. A couple weeks ago, I heard that you can send pictures to the park and players will sign them. So today I wrote five letters along with five pictures and sent them to HoHoKam Park, the Cubs spring training facility. I sent them to these players: Carlos Marmol, Andrew Cashner, Geovany Soto, Tyler Colvin, and Matt Garza.
I’m not really expecting Garza or Colvin to respond but I’m fairly confident that I’ll get signatures from the others. Spring Training is the best time to do this, so if you want autographs, act soon!

If you do not get Garza, let me know.
    I can get you one.
I truly think you do not need to worry about Matt not signing a photo for you. He used to spend almost an hour at the rail on Sundays at Tropicana Field after the pitcher’s did soft toss signing for kids ( and some adults).
He is basically a good guy who got schooled by Carlos Pena in the right way to treat the fans, and the fans responded positively to him in Tampa Bay.
You really want an exciting autograph, get Pena’s. Not only is it artistic to look at, but the guy is one of the smartest ballplayer I have ever met.
Wish you tons of luck with your photo signatures.

@Rays Renegade – I’m pretty confident that Garza will sign, the Rays as a whole seem like pretty good guys. I will definitely add Pena to my list. People have said the trick to sending for autographs is to find a player that is good enough that you’ll actually want it, but not so popular that they get tons and tons of fanmail. I’m trying to send my letters so they’ll be there the first day of Spring Training.

    There’s Always Next Year
